How to find a lawyer

How to find a lawyer
Ask friends and family for help finding a lawyer

How to find a lawyer? Your first step should not be searching on Google. Google is an excellent tool for finding what you need, learning a new skill, educating yourself, and acquiring whatever knowledge you may seek. It is not the first place to look for a family lawyer, a domestic violence lawyer, or a criminal defense lawyer.

We all strive to rank highly in Google, to get as many possible clients as we can, and to be in that number one spot. However, when it comes to family law, domestic violence, and criminal defense, your first resource to find a lawyer should be your friends and family.

Family law, domestic violence, and criminal defense are areas of law that run very high on the emotional scale. There is nothing more stressful than fighting a family member, someone you once loved or battling for your freedom and liberty.

In family law, domestic violence, and criminal defense, you are going to have to talk to your lawyer about some very personal and private topics.

You will have many heart to heart conversations that will affect your life for years to come.

You are going to have to tell your lawyer things you would not tell your own mother.

When you are looking for a lawyer for family law, domestic violence, or criminal defense problem, find a lawyer that comes with a recommendation of a friend or family member. Friends and family can tell you how they worked with the lawyer, how the lawyer handled their case, and how attentive the lawyer was to the client’s needs. Most importantly, how the lawyer helped them to solve their family law, domestic violence, or criminal defense problem. These are all important aspects of any family law, domestic violence, or criminal defense case.

If you simply can not find a friend or family member to recommend a lawyer to you and you have to use a Google search, do your homework!

Look at the lawyers Google reviews. Usually, the reviews are from people that have GMail accounts and you may want to try to reach out to them for more information on the lawyer. You can gain a lot of insight into a lawyer by reading the client reviews.

Find a lawyer with whom your personality clicks with. Let’s face it, we do not always get along. Having a lawyer who clicks with your personality will go a long way in helping resolve your family law, domestic violence, or criminal defense case.

Whenever I interview a new client, I am on the lookout for how we click together, how we can work together, and how well we get along. These are such important issues to me that if I feel I can not work with a particular client I will often recommend another lawyer who I believe will be a better fit for them.

The bottom line is finding a lawyer you are personally comfortable with, who feels right and makes you feel good about the work they are doing on your case.
