Patrick J. McGeehan

Get to Know Attorney Patrick J. McGeehan—In His Own Words

I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and attended local public schools as well as Miami-Dade College, and Florida International University. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Criminal Justice, and then attended Nova Southeastern University where I received my Juris Doctor.

The one question I am most often asked is, why do I practice law?

I practice law because I enjoy the personal interaction with each of my clients. After a career in public service, helping people is second nature to me. The three areas of law I practice in, criminal defense, family law, and personal injury are areas that can have the most profound effect upon my client’s lives. I enjoy working with my clients in creative ways to solve their legal issues. I love matching wits with an opposing counsel or prosecutor, and there is nothing like the excitement of a trial. It is important to choose a lawyer suitable to you and your case, as such, I carefully choose the clients I represent. In the end, I want the best possible outcome for you.

Putting Experience to Work for You

Prior to entering private law practice, I was a homicide detective at the Miami-Dade Police Department. As a homicide detective, I was also a certified police instructor in the areas of DUI, accident reconstruction, laser and radar speed measurement, and crime scene investigations. I am certified as an expert witness in several jurisdictions in the fields of radar, DUI, and accident reconstructions.
